Quick Start Guide

Step 1: Physical Setup

  1. Connect Thermocouples
  2. Plug K-Type thermocouples into Omega panel jacks
  3. Observe polarity (Yellow = positive for K-Type)
  4. Miniature or standard connectors accepted
  5. Label channels 1-36 as needed

  6. Power Connection

  7. Plug enclosure into 110V AC outlet
  8. Verify power LED illuminates

  9. USB Connection

  10. Connect USB Type-A cable from enclosure to computer
  11. Wait for Windows to recognize NI-DAQmx hardware
  12. Verify USB connection LED illuminates

Step 2: Software Installation

Prerequisites (installed by KinetiCore):

Note: System is delivered pre-configured. No driver installation required by end user.

Step 3: Start Logging

  1. Launch Application Desktop shortcut: "KinetiCore Logger" or Start Menu → KinetiCore → Temperature Logger

  2. Scan for Devices

  3. Click "Scan Devices" button
  4. System detects cDAQ-9174 and all 36 channels
  5. Channel grid populates automatically

  6. Configure Settings

  7. Interval: Set sampling rate (default: 1.0 second)
  8. Quality Mode: Choose Speed/Balanced/Accuracy
  9. High Durability: Enable for critical experiments (optional)
  10. Select channels to monitor (check/uncheck boxes)

  11. Start Data Collection

  12. Click "Start Logging"
  13. Choose file name and save location
  14. CSV file begins recording immediately
  15. Live plot displays selected channels

  16. Monitor and Annotate

  17. View real-time temperatures on plot
  18. Add comments using 💬 button
  19. Set threshold alerts (⚠ Set Thresholds)
  20. Statistics auto-update (min/max/avg)

  21. Stop Logging

  22. Click "Stop Logging" when complete
  23. CSV file saved automatically
  24. Data preserved with high durability mode

When to Return for Recalibration:

  1. 1 year has elapsed since last calibration
  2. System shows drift (ice bath test ≠ 0.0°C)
  3. After physical damage or sensor replacement
  4. Regulatory/quality requirements

  2. Receive RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) number
  3. Ship system to KinetiCore facility
  4. System recalibrated within 5 business days
  5. Updated calibration certificate provided
